13F Filing
A quarterly United States report in which large institutional managers disclose certain holdings they had on the last day of the quarter.
Institutional investment managers exercising discretion over at least one hundred million dollars in Section 13(f) securities must file within forty-five days of quarter end. The list of reportable securities covers exchange-listed equities and certain options and convertibles, so digital assets themselves are not reportable, while shares of exchange-traded digital-asset products generally are. That distinction matters when interpreting headlines: a 13F can show that a manager held product shares, never that it held coins. The report is also a snapshot of long positions only, excludes short exposure and most derivatives, may reflect positions held for clients who directed them, and is already weeks stale when published.

A bank appearing in a digital-asset product's 13F list may be holding those shares to hedge a client-facing derivative rather than as a directional position of its own.
