Privacy policy
What this site stores, what it does not, and how cookies from advertising and from the site itself are handled.
Last updated 02 September 2026.
What we collect
Digital Asset Database does not require an account and does not ask for personal information to read anything. We collect personal data in exactly two situations, both initiated by you:
- Email updates — if you submit an email address to be told when new research ships, we store that address and the date you submitted it. It is used for that purpose only. It is never sold, rented or shared, and you can ask us to delete it at any time through the contact page.
- Messages — if you send us a message, we store what you typed, together with any name and email address you supplied, so that we can respond and so that reported corrections can be tracked.
What stays in your browser
Your starred assets, your choice of light or dark presentation, and your choice between the guided and expert reading modes are stored in your own browser's local storage. They never reach our servers, they are not visible to us, and clearing your browser data removes them. Your language choice is stored in a cookie so that pages render in the same language on your next visit.
Server logs
Our web server keeps ordinary request logs — the page requested, the time, the response status, the browser's user-agent string and the requesting IP address — for operational and security purposes. The Ask the data feature applies a short-term per-IP rate limit held in memory, which is discarded when the process restarts.
Advertising and cookies
Digital Asset Database may display advertising served by Google, including through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent notice by the advertising provider where required, and personalised advertising is not served without consent.
Where advertising is not enabled on a deployment of this site, no advertising cookies are set at all.
Analytics
We do not operate a third-party analytics product that profiles individual readers across sites. Aggregate traffic understanding comes from server logs described above.
External links
Pages here link out to publishers, projects, block explorers and data providers. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we neither control nor endorse. Following a link takes you outside this policy.
Data retention and your rights
Email addresses are kept until you ask for removal. Messages are kept while they remain relevant to an open correction or enquiry. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you; ask through the contact page and we will act on it.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
