How many addresses currently hold any non-zero amount of the asset.
A census of funded addresses on the chain. It is the broadest available proxy for how widely an asset is held.
Where it misleads
Addresses are not people. One person can hold thousands, and one exchange address can hold the balances of millions of customers, so this cannot be read as a holder count.
Reading a high or a low value
The trend over time carries more information than the level.
