Average Transaction Fee
The mean amount paid in fees per transaction on the network over the period.
The mean divides total fees paid by the number of transactions confirmed, expressed in US dollars. On chains using a fee market such as Ethereum's EIP-1559, the amount combines a base fee that is destroyed and a priority tip paid to the block proposer. It describes the average cost of a confirmed transaction, which is not the same as the cost a typical user faces.
Cómo se calcula
total fees paid over the trailing 24 hours / number of transactions confirmed over the trailing 24 hours
Dónde induce a error
The mean is dominated by a small number of expensive transactions: arbitrage bundles paying large priority tips, complex contract interactions and mint rushes sit in the same average as simple transfers, so most users never pay this amount. Under EIP-1559 the figure blends a burned base fee with a tip that is not burned, and providers differ on whether failed transactions, which still consume gas, belong in either the numerator or the denominator. For layer 2 networks the user-visible fee excludes the data cost the sequencer pays to the settlement layer, so the published fee can be well below the full economic cost of the transaction. Conversion to dollars mixes the gas price with the native token price, so the series moves when the token moves.
La comparación con renta variable y por qué no funciona
Average selling price. The analogy fails because there is no price list: the fee is set by an auction for blockspace that reprices every block and treats every user identically regardless of relationship.
Cómo interpretar un valor alto o bajo
A higher value means the average confirmed transaction cost more during the period, usually reflecting congestion, transaction complexity, or a higher native token price. Compare with the median to see how skewed the distribution was.
