Gas per second
How much computation the network actually executed each second, in millions of gas.
Gas measures computational work rather than transaction count, so it compares a simple transfer and a complex contract call on the same scale. It is the fairer throughput measure for smart-contract chains.
Where it misleads
Gas schedules differ between chains, so the unit is not identical across them. It also measures work performed, not work demanded.
Reading a high or a low value
Rising gas per second alongside flat fees indicates capacity growing faster than demand.
