What the fee-generating assets look like on 10 September 2026

Fee-stream data as of 10 September 2026 reveals a group-wide spread in market-cap-to-fees multiples spanning from under 2x to over 19,000x.

The Spread of Market-Cap-to-Fees Ratios

Across the fourteen assets observed on 10 September 2026, the market-cap-to-fees ratio (annualized from the trailing 30 days) ranges from 1.9x for Uniswap to 19,031x for Bitcoin. Between those poles sit Canton at 6.8x, TRON at 108.6x, Solana at 215.7x, Chainlink at 152.8x, Ethereum at 2,196.6x, and Avalanche at 2,311.7x, among others. A wide ratio indicates that the market capitalization (point-in-time) is large relative to the fee volume being generated over the measurement window; a narrow ratio indicates the reverse. What this spread does not imply is that any asset is more or less appropriately valued—the ratio is a descriptive relationship between two quantities, not a signal of mispricing or expected return.

Fee Retention: Pass-Through vs. Capture

The dataset separates fees from revenue where data permits, and the gap between the two figures defines the take rate. TRON, Canton, Hyperliquid, and Avalanche each record a take rate of 100%, meaning fees and revenue are reported as equal under their respective accounting bases—no measured portion is passed to external parties such as liquidity providers. At the other end, Uniswap shows annualized fees of approximately $1.96 billion (annualized from the trailing 30 days) against revenue of roughly $157.8 million, a take rate of 8.1%, reflecting that the large majority of fees flow to liquidity providers rather than to the protocol itself. Ethereum's take rate of 23.1% and Gram (prev. Toncoin)'s 50.0% sit at intermediate positions. A high take rate does not mean a protocol is more economically productive in aggregate; it means a larger share of whatever fees are generated is retained under the defined accounting scope.

Chain-Basis vs. Application-Basis: A Necessary Separation

Several figures in this dataset carry the accounting basis chain: (e.g., chain:Bitcoin, chain:Solana, chain:BSC), while others carry application: (e.g., application:Uniswap V3, application:Aave V3, application:CCIP). Chain-basis figures aggregate fees at the network settlement layer; application-basis figures capture only the fees attributable to a specific protocol or smart-contract deployment, which may run on one or more of those same chains. Comparing Uniswap's application-basis fee figure directly to Ethereum's chain-basis fee figure would conflate two different scopes of measurement—some portion of Uniswap's fees will already appear inside Ethereum's chain-level total. Readers must treat these two groups separately and resist cross-group ratio comparisons without adjusting for scope.

Why These Are Not Equity Multiples

The single largest reason these market-cap-to-fees ratios cannot be read as equity price-to-earnings or price-to-sales multiples is that token holders do not automatically hold a legal or contractual claim on fee cash flows. In traditional equity accounting, a price-to-sales multiple presupposes that revenue accrues to the entity whose shares are being priced. For most digital assets, the relationship between fee generation, protocol revenue, and any value that reaches token holders depends on governance decisions, tokenomic mechanisms, and smart-contract rules that vary asset by asset and can change. The ratio therefore describes a market-cap-to-activity relationship, not a claim-based valuation multiple.
