Market Capitalisation and Dominance

As of 13 September 2026, total market capitalisation stood at approximately $2.62 trillion (point-in-time). Within that aggregate, Bitcoin accounted for 58.80% of the total and Ether for 11.62%, meaning the two largest assets together represented just over 70% of the measured universe. Lido DAO, Aave, TRON, Solana, and Meteora followed in descending order, ranging from roughly $558 million to $269 million. Notably, several protocols generating substantial fee streams — including Pons, Canton, and Meteora — do not appear among the headline dominance leaders, while Bitcoin, the largest single asset by dominance, does not appear in this fee-stream table at all. This gap reflects a structural difference: capitalisation measures the market's aggregate pricing of a token's supply, whereas annualised fees measure economic throughput recorded on-chain over the trailing 30 days. Neither figure alone describes the other; a high fee stream does not imply a correspondingly large market cap, and vice versa.

What These Figures Cannot Capture

Aggregate and ranked figures of this kind describe measurable on-chain and market outputs but cannot capture the composition of holders, the concentration of trading activity, the credit or counterparty risks embedded in stablecoin issuers, the degree to which fee revenue translates into protocol-level cash flows or token-holder distributions, or the off-chain activity of centralised venues that may dwarf reported on-chain volumes. They also do not distinguish between organic demand and wash-trading-inflated metrics.

A reader seeking to contextualise these numbers would next need to examine individual token supply schedules, issuance rates, and the distribution of fee revenue between protocol treasuries and token holders.
