Inside the Exchange-based Tokens sector, 06 September 2026
The Exchange-based Tokens sector held a combined market cap of approximately $152.2 billion across 56 constituents as of 06 September 2026.
Sector Composition and Concentration
As of 06 September 2026, the Exchange-based Tokens sector tracked 56 constituents with a combined market capitalisation of $152.2 billion. Concentration within the sector is pronounced: BNB alone accounted for approximately $99.5 billion, or roughly 65% of the total sector market cap. The next four members by size — Hyperliquid ($19.6 bn), WhiteBIT Coin ($8.7 bn), LEO Token ($8.6 bn), and Uniswap ($4.5 bn) — together represented a further 27%, meaning the five largest constituents collectively account for over 90% of reported sector weight. The remaining members, including the ten others listed, each held market caps below $2.8 billion.
Fee Stream Availability
Of the 15 largest members shown, only six carry a measurable annualised fee figure, derived from trailing 30-day activity annualized. Those six are BNB ($216.0 m), Hyperliquid ($20.5 m), Uniswap ($1,724.7 m), Cronos ($6,010), KuCoin ($1,563), and Jupiter ($223.3 m). The remaining nine of the 15 largest members — including WhiteBIT Coin, LEO Token, OKB, Aster, Pump.fun, HTX DAO, Bitget Token, Gate, and NEXO — show no fee data. This means any cross-sectional comparison that relies on fee-based metrics is structurally incomplete for a significant portion of even the largest constituents, and the gap widens further across the full 56-member universe.
Distance from All-Time Highs
The spread of drawdowns from all-time highs across the 15 listed members is wide. At the narrower end, Hyperliquid sat 1.76% below its all-time high and WhiteBIT Coin sat 2.07% below, as of 06 September 2026. At the other extreme, Cronos was recorded at 93.57% below its all-time high, and Jupiter at 86.52% below. Several others — including Uniswap (–83.81%), Bitget Token (–76.25%), and KuCoin (–75.40%) — also showed drawdowns in excess of 75%. This range of approximately 92 percentage points between the shallowest and deepest drawdown illustrates that constituents within the same sector label occupy very different positions relative to their historical peaks.
What the Sector Label Does and Does Not Convey
The label Exchange-based Tokens groups assets that have a nominal association with trading venues or exchange-adjacent functions, but it does not assert that the underlying assets are economically comparable. The set includes centralised-exchange tokens (e.g. OKB, Bitget Token, KuCoin), decentralised-exchange governance tokens (e.g. Uniswap), aggregator tokens (e.g. Jupiter), a lending platform token (NEXO), and a token-launch platform (Pump.fun), among others. Business models, fee-capture mechanisms, governance rights, and revenue transparency differ materially across these categories. Readers should therefore treat the sector aggregate as a convenience grouping rather than as evidence of shared economic characteristics. The trailing 7-day return figures, which ranged from –19.8% (Pump.fun) to +34.4% (Uniswap) over the period ending 06 September 2026, further reflect the heterogeneity within the classification.
