Bedrock is a decentralized finance application whose native token, BR, serves as the governance instrument for the Bedrock ecosystem. BR token holders participate in governance by locking their BR tokens at a one-to-one ratio to receive veBR, a voting escrow token that confers voting power proportional to how long the tokens are locked. veBR holders then vote on proposals such as gauge allocations, which determine how incentive rewards flow to different liquidity pools within the ecosystem. Bedrock operates across several blockchain environments including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Base, and Berachain, though no consensus algorithm is recorded for the token itself, as it is an application-layer asset rather than a base-layer protocol.
