Golem is a decentralized, peer-to-peer marketplace built on Ethereum that lets anyone rent out idle computing power to people or organizations that need it, with a particular focus on computationally intensive tasks relevant to artificial intelligence. The platform addresses the problem that raw computing capacity is unevenly distributed and expensive to access through traditional means, by connecting those who have spare processing resources with those who need them. GLM is the token used as the unit of payment between the two sides of that marketplace.

Golem operates on the Ethereum ecosystem, where requestors — those who need computing work done — post tasks and offer a GLM payment, while providers — those supplying the hardware — accept and execute those tasks in exchange for GLM. The network can split a large computation into smaller subtasks distributed across many providers simultaneously, allowing parallel processing that can reduce the time needed for complex work. GLM tokens settle these transactions directly between participants without an intermediary.

Fees in the Golem system flow from requestors to providers as direct GLM payments for completed computation; this is a marketplace model rather than one where the protocol itself captures a fee stream from activity. The data stored here does not record a protocol-level fee, which means fee-based financial measures commonly tracked on this site are not applicable to Golem in its current form. The circulating supply stands at 1,000,000,000 GLM, which represents 100 percent of the supply issued, and the dilution overhang is 0.0 percent, meaning no additional tokens are known to be pending release.
