How to read this file. Each tab answers one question. Overview is the summary. Price is what it has done. Fundamentals is what it earns. Tokenomics is what happens to supply. Valuation puts the two together — with the limits of doing so stated. Every figure shows the period it was measured over and who published it.

What this is

Livepeer is a decentralized video streaming network protocol, launched in October 2018, that aims to provide an open infrastructure layer for live video broadcasting on the internet. It targets developers building video-enabled applications and existing broadcasters who currently rely on centralized streaming services. The project positions itself as a more economically efficient alternative by distributing the work of video transcoding across a network of independent node operators.

Livepeer runs on Ethereum and is also active within the Arbitrum and Harmony ecosystems, using a delegated-stake mechanism to coordinate who performs transcoding work on the network. LPT is the staking token: node operators and their delegators stake LPT to signal their participation and earn the right to process video; the actual payment for that work flows in ETH from broadcasters to the nodes. The protocol uses Ethash as its listed consensus algorithm, and the LPT supply issued stands at 100 percent of circulating supply, with no maximum supply cap defined and no dilution overhang currently recorded.

Fees are paid in ETH by broadcasters who use the network to transcode video, and those fees flow to the node operators doing the work; the protocol's take rate over the trailing 30 days is recorded at 100 percent, meaning all fees collected are classified as protocol revenue rather than being split with a separate supply side. Over the trailing 30 days, fees and revenue were both 27,335 USD, and over the trailing 12 months they totalled 678,170 USD; annualizing from the 30-day figure produces 332,575.83 USD. Fee growth over the last 30 days was negative 5.57 percent, indicating the fee run-rate has recently contracted. Supply-side revenue for the trailing 30 days is recorded at zero, which is consistent with the 100 percent take rate showing the entire fee stream attributed to the protocol rather than distributed separately to liquidity providers.
