Metis
Was das ist
Metis is a Layer 2 scaling network built on top of Ethereum, designed to make decentralized applications faster and cheaper to run than they would be on Ethereum's base layer. It operates a dual-network architecture: Andromeda, an optimistic rollup focused on secure general-purpose applications such as decentralized finance and gaming, and Hyperion, aimed at high-performance and AI-optimized workloads. The project targets developers who want Ethereum-level security without the congestion and cost of transacting directly on Ethereum.
Andromeda functions as an optimistic rollup, meaning transactions are processed off the Ethereum main chain and batches are submitted back to Ethereum for final settlement, with fraud-proof mechanisms available to challenge invalid state transitions. A decentralized sequencer network orders transactions rather than relying on a single centralized operator, which is a design choice intended to reduce single points of failure. The METIS token is used within this ecosystem and, with 81.19 percent of the 10,000,000 maximum supply currently in circulation, roughly 18.81 percent of tokens have yet to enter the market.
The network collects fees from users who submit transactions, with a median transaction fee of approximately 0.002237 USD recorded on the most recent full day measured. Over the trailing 30 days the protocol collected 1,979 USD in fees, over the trailing 12 months it collected 38,657 USD, and the annualized figure derived from the 30-day run rate stands at approximately 24,078 USD. Fee volume fell 6.58 percent over the last 30 days. These fee levels are modest relative to the network's market capitalization of roughly 31.8 million USD, which places the market-cap-to-annualized-fees ratio at approximately 1,335.
