How to read this file. Each tab answers one question. Overview is the summary. Price is what it has done. Fundamentals is what it earns. Tokenomics is what happens to supply. Valuation puts the two together — with the limits of doing so stated. Every figure shows the period it was measured over and who published it.

What this is

Qtum is a Layer 1 blockchain that attempts to combine the transaction model of Bitcoin with the smart-contract capabilities of Ethereum, giving developers a platform on which to build decentralized applications and transfer value. It targets developers and businesses that want Ethereum-style programmability built on top of Bitcoin's more battle-tested transaction infrastructure. The project is open-source and governed by community participants who can vote to adjust certain network parameters.

Qtum uses a Proof of Stake consensus mechanism, meaning that node operators who hold QTUM tokens can validate transactions and earn block rewards in return, with a new block produced roughly every 2 minutes. The chain is built on a fork of Bitcoin Core and uses Bitcoin's UTXO model at the base layer, while an abstraction layer on top allows Ethereum-compatible smart contracts to execute. QTUM is the native token used to pay transaction fees, participate in staking, and vote on governance proposals through a system called the Decentralized Governance Protocol.

The data stored here does not include a discrete fee-revenue figure for Qtum, so fee-based valuation measures cannot be calculated from this page. Staking rewards are the primary economic incentive for node operators, funded through block issuance rather than a separately tracked fee stream. The circulating supply stands at roughly 106.1 million QTUM, representing about 98.4 percent of all coins issued to date, with a dilution overhang of approximately 1.6 percent of remaining supply still to be released. Because no maximum supply is recorded, the long-run issuance schedule cannot be bounded from the figures available here.
