Leggi la documentazione APIBNB is the native utility token of the BNB Chain ecosystem, a network that supports decentralized applications, smart contracts, and value transfer across multiple interconnected chains. It was created by Binance in 2017 primarily to reduce trading fees on that centralized exchange, and it has since expanded into the role of paying for computation and storage on the broader BNB Chain network. Its intended users range from retail traders seeking fee discounts on Binance to developers deploying and interacting with smart contracts on the chain itself.
BNB Chain uses a Proof of Staked Authority consensus mechanism in which 21 active validators, called the Cabinet, take turns producing blocks and confirming transactions, with each validator's eligibility determined daily by the amount of BNB staked or delegated to it. Validators face slashing penalties for misbehavior, and the system incorporates a fast-finality mechanism to settle transactions quickly. BNB also undergoes a programmatic dual-burn process that permanently removes tokens through real-time destruction of a portion of transaction fees and periodic buyback-and-burn events, gradually reducing the circulating supply toward a long-term target.
The network generated 776,764 USD in fees over the most recent 24-hour period, 21,366,215 USD over the trailing 30 days, and 223,527,651 USD over the trailing 12 months, with those fees paid primarily by users executing transactions and deploying smart contracts on BNB Chain. The protocol's take rate, measured over the trailing 30 days, is approximately 10 percent, meaning that of the total fees collected, about 2,136,620 USD over that same 30-day window was retained as protocol revenue while the remainder, approximately 19,229,595 USD, flowed to the supply side — principally validators and stakers. Annualizing the trailing 30-day fee figure produces an estimated 259,955,615.83 USD, and the market capitalization divided by that annualized fee figure gives a ratio of roughly 380, while the ratio of market capitalization to annualized protocol revenue stands at approximately 3,803.
