Synapse
Was das ist
Synapse is a cross-chain bridge protocol designed to let users move assets and data between different blockchain networks, including Layer 1 chains, sidechains, and Layer 2 networks, without relying on a central intermediary. The problem it addresses is the fragmentation of blockchain ecosystems, where value and information are otherwise locked within individual networks. It is aimed at anyone who needs to transfer tokens or interact with applications across chains such as Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Fantom.
Synapse operates as a protocol layer sitting above individual blockchains, using liquidity pools on each supported chain to facilitate swaps and transfers of stable assets across networks, with cross-chain messaging handling the coordination between them. The SYN token functions within the system as a governance and incentive instrument, and the protocol has no native consensus algorithm of its own, instead relying on the security of the underlying chains it connects. Circulating supply stands at 219,066,529 SYN out of a maximum of 250,000,000, meaning 87.63 percent of the total supply is already in circulation.
Fees are generated when users bridge or swap assets across chains, and those users are the ones who pay them. Over the trailing 30 days the protocol collected 929.57 USD in total fees, with an annualized figure of 11,309.77 USD extrapolated from that period. The take rate over the trailing 30 days was 99.82 percent, meaning the protocol retains nearly all fee revenue rather than distributing it to liquidity providers, as supply-side revenue over the same period was just 1.71 USD. Fee and revenue growth over the trailing 30 days each declined by more than 56 percent, indicating a meaningful recent contraction in bridging activity.
